GARLAND, Texas, August 3 (dbusiness.com) -- Technology reseller
and network design consultant Alliance Datacom has signed
a joint marketing agreement with discountcall.com, a business-to-business
aggregator of telecommunications services.
Under terms of the agreement, Atlanta-based discountcall.com,
which shops local, long distance and data line rates for its
customers, will refer customers with network hardware and
software needs to the Garland, Texas-based Alliance Datacom.
Alliance Datacom, in turn, will send customers to discountcall.com's
Website to shop for carriers, said discountcall.com President
Randy Berlin.
The two companies will share commissions for the referrals,
he added.
The agreement was signed in early July, and the companies
established a presence on each other's Websites two weeks
ago, Berlin said. On both sites, a home page logo clicks to
a description of services and a hot link to the other's site.
Both companies will also make telephone and in-person referrals,
Berlin added.
"I approached Alliance Datacom," said Berlin. "They have
a very high Web profile and a very heavy volume of traffic"
among surfers looking for telecommunications hardware, Berlin
said. "I e-mailed (Alliance Datacom President Steve Taggart)
and said 'we have compatible customers and zero (competitive)
overlap.' And he agreed."
The privately-held discountcall.com is a clearinghouse for
telecommunications services. Discountcall.com searches for
the best rates and negotiates volume discounts for customers.
Discountcall's revenue comes from commissions from the telecommunications
companies and the company does not own or resell any of the
telecommunications services offered at its site. The start-up
company is currently looking for investors, Berlin said.
The privately held Alliance Datacom (not to be confused with
Houston-based Alliance Data Corp.) sells new, used, refurbished,
and remanufactured wide area network technology to the corporate
market and is a designated fulfillment center for over 60
different technology manufacturers' products. Alliance Datacom
also helps companies design their wide area networks.
